The Orange County Probation Department is seeking hair stylist or barbers or individuals who have experience in cutting hair to volunteer their time to assist teens in custody by providing hair cuts. Hair cuts for at-risk teens help to enhance their self-esteem and confidence, which are important steps in the rehabilitation process. Individuals may volunteer several times each month, every few months or even once a year, and volunteer shifts are flexible. Volunteers are encouraged to bring their own clippers or scissors if available. Volunteers must be 21 years of age or older and must attend a volunteer general information meeting and submit to a background check.
