This is a fantastic opportunity for businesses to get involved in a mentoring programme for young people in secondary schools that provides a package of opportunities to raise the aspirations of young people and close the gap between those aspirations and their attainment. The programme uses positive role models to improve students’ confidence, self-efficacy and employability.
We are seeking up to 50 business volunteers for 550 students
Thur 21 Nov - Mentor Training - 9.30 (3hrs) or 1.30pm (3hrs)
Jan - mentor in a school over three weeks for 2hrs at a time (6hr commitment)
March - Regional finals if your team gets through the South East competition
May - National finals if your team gets through Regionals
Mosaic Enterprise Challenge - Students experience a realistic business scenario where they produce, develop and market a new product through a unique online business game. The competition encourages students to demonstrate how key components of business come together to determine success.
Your role as a mentor would be to support the students with the ethical business questionnaire and the online business simulation game. If you would like to create a short presentation to explain your organisation's key values and principles you are more than welcome to do so! However, if you would prefer we can deliver the introduction at the beginning of the session and just introduce you. We can discuss this once you volunteer.
If your school team makes it through to the final stages your business knowledge and expertise would be needed to help support them with their business idea and pitch in the lead up to the regional/national finals. Training sessions will be held as soon as possible to introduce you to the competition. Mentoring is hugely gratifying for both business volunteers and students due to the impactful difference volunteers make towards developing students' business knowledge. We hope you would like to be involved.
