Project Literacy connects volunteers with Pasco Elementary Schools that need their help. Volunteers spend anywhere from 30 minutes to 2 hours a week for the duration of the school year reading to or with a group of students. The volunteer works with students 1 to 1 or in a small group setting. Ability to speak Spanish or Russion is a plus, but not necessary.
Research shows that the more students practice with a mentor, the more they learn. In addition to watching their reading skills improve, you will also see a marked difference in their behavior and attitudes. Success in school and life starts with reading, which is why Project Literacy volunteers are so vital to the these kids' lives. You can make a difference!
