Do you enjoy friendly conversation and the idiosyncrasies of the Spanish language? If so, we need enthusiastic individuals to facilitate our conversation club!

Importance of Position: Assist library staff by facilitating the Spanish Conversation Club and speaking with individuals who are seeking to practice their Spanish language skills.

Qualifications:

  • Speak Spanish
  • Knowledge of Spanish beneficial but not required
  • Be friendly and supportive
  • Willingness and ability to plan the club’s activities

Responsibilities:

  1. Facilitate the Spanish Conversation Club
  2. Increase the learner’s awareness of American culture and encourage learning about other cultures.
  3. Share information about library services, programs, and use of resources.

Training Provided: Orientation to the library as well as brief specific training about the Spanish Conversation Club.

Benefits of Supporting the Library as a Volunteer:

  • Satisfaction of providing much-needed support and service
  • Meet new people and help others

Time Commitment: The club meets every week for one hour (during the specific months determined by the library each year).

Length of Commitment: Minimum 6-month commitment. Provide to the volunteer supervisor sufficient notice if unable to keep shift assignment.

Grounds for Termination: Failure to carry out assigned responsibilities. Breach of confidentiality.

The St. Helena Public Library is a one facility municipal library serving the City of St. Helena and surrounding areas. We are located in the Napa Valley but we are not part of the Napa City-County Library System. We are part of SPLASH, a Solano & St. Helena libraries partnership.
