The Children's Advocacy & Protection Center sees a about 300 children a year because ONE in TEN children are sexually abused before their 18th Birthday.
Want to make a difference? There is a program called Darkness to Light- Stewards of Children that teaches 5 steps to keep children safe from sexual abuse.
If you are affiliated with a church group, book club, parent's group, school group, your co-workers- please contact Connie at email@example.com or call 828-465-9296 to teach your group Darkness to Light. It is a free training.. It takes 2 hours. We are happy to facilitate during a lunch and learn. We can facilitate in the evening and on weekends because we know that children need us to advocate for them.
No one expects sexual abuse to happen to their child, sexual predators count on this!
Mission Statement Advocating for the protection of the children of Catawba County by working to: Empower individuals through training and education Coordinate a comprehensive team response to abuse and neglect Reduce victim trauma
The Children's Advocacy & Protection Center is the only place in Catawba County that treats children of sexual abuse and severe physical abuse. A Children's Advocacy Center is a home-like center where an abused child can tell their traumatic story one time rather than telling the story over and over again to all of the agencies that are involved in their care. A Children's Advocacy Center serves as a hub for a mulitdisciplanary team put into action to help the child. This involves the police department, social services, medical, mental health, and justice department.
