Want to make a real difference for a student in grades 1 through 8? Then become a Homework Zone Coach at the Southgate Library. This volunteer opportunity is open to teens (must be currently enrolled in High School) or adults.
You are available on WEDNESDAYS from 4:00 PM to 5:30pm and you are be able to commit to 2 hours per week for at least one academic semester.
The Homework Zone is an after-school program designed to help students with their homework (especially math) and subject specific assignments (for example a paper about a famous person). You will build confidence and coach skill building in students as they successfully complete their assignments.
If you enjoy working with elementary school age youngsters and you are comfortable helping with math homework and other academic subjects this is a great opportunity.
Teens - this is a great way to fulfill your community service requirement assuming your schedule permits and you are currently enrolled in high school. Adults (18 years plus) must complete a background screening via Live Scan
