Help struggling students learn to read by third grade!
The Greater Twin Cities RSVP, working in partnership with Bloomington Public Schools, is seeking volunteer tutors for selected students in grades 1 through 3. Targeted students will be reading at least one grade level behind their peers. Tutors will work with small groups of students, monitoring, supporting, and encouraging peer coaching and effective skill practice, as well as reading aloud.
Volunteers are needed from 3:15-4:15 p.m., twice weekly, to meet with students at one of several Bloomington Elementary Schools. The program runs from the end of November to mid-March. Training and support are provided.
Additional benefits available for volunteers aged 55

RSVP Volunteers work with local organizations to have impact on critical needs in several focus areas: literacy, housing, food security, independence and well-being for seniors and persons with disabilities, economic opportunity, and service to veterans and military personnel and their families. We give volunteers the flexibility to decide who and how frequently they serve and we support volunteers with placement assistance, free supplemental insurance, and other benefits.
