St. Joseph Hospice, bringing people together to provide compassionate care, promote health improvement and create healthy communities. Volunteers help by providing companionship and socialization visits to patients and families.
As a volunteer with St. Joseph Hospice you will be part of a team who recognizes that psychological, spiritual, social services, as well as medical/clinical care, can contribute to an improved quality of life for patients near the end of life. No matter what your talents, or interest, every volunteer contributes in a different manner to compliment our service.
YOU CAN MAKE A DIFFERENCE:
Patient Visit Volunteer: Visiting terminally ill patients either in a skilled nursing facility or at home, to provide companionship, socialization and support through conversation, listening, reading, playing games or by the ministry of supportive presence. Also may provide the opportunity for brief respite intervals, so that the caregiver can take some time away to take care of him or herself, run errands, etc.
