BEAR...BE A Resource for CPS Kids is gearing up for our holiday program, BEARing Gifts. BEARing Gifts is an annual program that provides holiday wishes to vulnerable children involved with CPS in Harris County . Last year with the help of generous donors and hardworking volunteers BEAR was able to provide gifts and toys such as bikes, stereos, dolls, building blocks, basketballs, bath and body sets as well as action figures to almost 11,000 children. Below is the volunteer description: The volunteer opportunity is located at our BEARing Gifts Warehouse, 3572 E TC Jester Blvd (Brookwood Business Park) Houston, TX 77018. This is a Monday - Friday 9:00 am -12:00pm or 1:00pm-4:00pm volunteer opportunity beginning 11/27/18 and ending on 12/19/18. Volunteers must be at least 12 years old and if under the age of 16 accompanied by an adult chaperone. Snacks and drinks are provided for volunteers. The warehouse is not climate controlled so volunteers are advised to dress in clothing appropriate for the weather and comfortable shoes. Volunteers will be responsible for: * sorting toys and gifts by category, sex, and age * helping unload gifts and toys from donors' vehicles and organize them in its appropriate category * selecting gifts and toys for children and youth from an assortment of toys and gifts at our BEARing Gifts warehouse that are not sponsored by donors. * Once the gifts or toys are selected, volunteers will need to bag them and label the bag with that child's wish card * Once gifts are labeled, volunteers will need to place gifts in assigned colored box that represent CPS office * load caseworkers' vehicles so the caseworkers can then deliver the gifts and toys to children in CPS care.
