The National Language Service Corp (NLSC) is a one-of-a kind organization that offers citizens with language skills the chance to help communities and the government during times of crises, emergencies and non-emergencies; domestic or abroad. We are seeking volunteers for future assignments with a federal agency as a Japanese interpreter and translator. This opportunity would require the interested individual to become a member of the NLSC. There is no membership fee to join the organization and all members of the NLSC are volunteers but are paid a stipend for any hours worked. We do not offer full-time positions, but rather assignments that require individuals who meet the NLSC membership requirements.
NLSC Membership requirements:
- You must be a U.S. citizen
- You must be at least 18 years old
- If you are a male, you must have registered for Selective Service

The National Language Service Corps (NLSC) is a group of individuals united by the fundamental belief that language has a tremendous impact on who we are; who we can be; and what we can do together. If language can give us the power to communicate with and understand one another, the National Language Service Corps will help to harness that power to gain a deeper understanding of all countries, cultures, and peoples and, in so doing, make the United States and the world safer, more just, and more prosperous.
