Held on the Saturday prior to Thanksgiving in downtown Grand Rapids, the Grand Rapids Jaycees Santa Parade is a West Michigan tradition of more than 100 years. The parade serves as the kickoff to the holiday season in our community.
I n the early 1900s, the parade was organized by downtown department stores. As shopping locations began to move away from downtown, the local department store were not able to continue to put on the parade and asked our chapter for help. Since 1969, the Grand Rapids Jaycees have carried on this tradition by continuing to organize and implement all aspects of the parade.
In less then 3 weeks, the parade will kick off the holiday season in Grand Rapids and we are in need of volunteers for all areas. You can visit the parade website, under the volunteer tab, at www.SantaParadeGR.com and see all of the positions that we need help with.
We need all the help we can get to make the parade a successful and safe event for our community!
