Too many people in our local community face hunger and food insecurity on a daily basis. This fundraiser calls attention to hunger by re-creating a "soup kitchen" where attendees pay a fee, select a hand-crafted pottery bowl, have a simple meal of soup, bread, dessert and drinks, then take the bowl home as a memento of the evening. It’s fun-filled event which helps support a very worthy cause!
Volunteers are needed for various shifts including:
- Pick up food from local restaurants and deliver to the church. Note: This will be done in the afternoon, starting around 1pm.
Move ceramic bowls from SERVE to the church. Note: This will also be done in the afternoon, starting at 2pm.
Set up at the church, starting at 12pm.
Traffic Direction, starting at 5:00pm
Dining Room Support - serve drinks, desserts table, bread servers.
Manage the bowls table- starting at 5pm
Post-Event Cleanup - get trash, wipe down tables, sweep floors, wrap up leftover soups/food and clean kitchen.
Volunteers will also be needed to help with unloading, weighing in and storing leftover soups and food in the SERVE Hunger Resource Center after the event.
Volunteers 16 and up are welcome, volunteers 12 thru 15 can volunteer, but must volunteer with a parent.
