Location: Cabrini Immigration and Legal Services
Duties: At the workshops, Pro Bono and Community volunteers assist applicants in completing Citizenship Immigration forms. The training prior to the workshop provides volunteers with information about the immigration assistance requested. Topics covered at the training include: screening for eligibility, requisite documentation and forms. The training equips volunteers with knowledge needed to work with the applicants to fill out the forms and assemble the packets. Legal volunteers are also trained to be able to screen applicants, review completed packets, and advise clients on the next steps of the Immigration process. After the workshop, Citizenship applicants are empowered to proceed with the next steps for their applications for citizenship. All of these individuals receive free services and we are able to serve hundreds of them with just a few staff members thanks to the contributions of time and talent from volunteers. Workshops are specified Fridays, 1:00 PM to 5:00 PM.
Qualifications: One training required, specified Fridays 12:00 PM to 1:00 PM or specified Saturday mornings
