Drive alone or bring a friend or children/family - as long as they can handle 1.5-2 hrs in a vehicle.
We ask volunteer drivers to arrive between 9-9:30a, latest 10am please. Routes are usually completed by 11:30a-12p We've recently consolidated our routes, so they are shorter and "smother"! Routes are also on GoogleMaps now, so we can set it up to navigate through your smartphone (if you prefer). All routes also go with a printed route sheet - so you don't have to rely on 'technology' hehehe
We have our own fleet of vehicles, maintained and insured, and we request volunteers drive one of our vehicles. But if you prefer your own vehicle, it needs to be spacious - SUV or Minivan - no trucks sorry - so that it can fit the coolers of food. Also, we do not reimburse gas/mileage if you use your own vehicle.... but those miles are tax-deductible on your personal tax return.
No additional volunteer opportunities at this time.
About Lincoln County Council on Aging
1380 Boone Street, Troy, MO 63379, US
At Lincoln County Council on Aging, we have been helping seniors in this community for the past 36 years; serving and delivering hot, nutritious meals as well as providing activities and transportation to many area seniors. Last year alone we served over 62,000 meals to seniors, and 45,000 of which were delivered to the home-bound.
Lincoln County Council on Aging (LCCOA) provides hot, nutritious meals to senior adults who are sixty 60 and older, to their spouses regardless of age, and to disabled persons 18-59 years of age who are eligible.
We offer dining at each of our centers and provide home-delivered meals to our homebound clients.
Each home delivery is made by a driver who also checks on the well-being of our clients....bringing peace of mind to them and their families. For many home bound clients, the meal delivery driver is the only person they will see during their day.
LCCOA also offers an array of other supportive services to the senior adults such as center transportation, blood pressure checks, flu shots, tax assistance, and much more.
We also have daily and weekly activities, which includes but not limited to- Poker, Bingo, Cribbage, Line Dancing, Veteran Coffee Talk, Bunco, Quilting, Evening Dances with Live Music, Free Diabetes Workshop, Free Medicare Counseling, Day and Weekend Trips, and So Much More....
