CHiL (Afterschool) Tutor at Cooper Middle School

Who: HandsOn Suburban Chicago (HOSC) needs YOU to help disadvantaged youth get the academic support they need to succeed!

What: CHiL (Cooper, Holmes, and London) is an afterschool tutoring program that offers homework help to low-income middle school students. Volunteers will work with small groups of students and under the direction of program staff.

Where and When: CHiL will begin on January 14 and go through March 12. Volunteer tutors are needed on Tuesdays and Thursdays from 3:30 to 4:30 pm at Cooper Middle School (1050 Plum Grove Circle, Buffalo Grove, IL 60089). Choose and commit to one day or more per week. A mandatory orientation/training session will take place on January 8 or 9. Volunteers must be willing to undergo a background check.

Why: Tutoring is a fun and rewarding experience. In addition to the satisfaction that comes with positively impacting those in need, volunteering in schools is an ideal way to meet new people, enhance your resume, and learn new skills. Completing community service may also help youth volunteers qualify for scholarships.
