Volunteers fill in for Staff on the weekend. When you volunteer on the weekend from 8:00 - 11:00 or 11:00-2:00 or 2:00 - 5:00, you allow the families to spend the day at the house if they wish to do so. This enables parents with small children and/or babies to settle them for naps, and/or play time. You may also wish to interact with the families, play games, coordinate craft activities, and sometimes help with staff tasks such as assembling bedding packs for the next week, or doing some laundry, etc. Or you can bring a book and hang out in the office while families are busy with other things. The important thing is to have a volunteer here to keep the house open.
