Mission Statement

We are people with and without disabilities creating an artistic culture to realize our full potential.

Established in 2000, The Arts of Life is an arts studio for people with and without developmental disabilities. At the studio, we focus on a variety of art forms, including: visual art, performance, installation and music. Our work has been showcased at various Starbucks in Chicago, Caribou Coffee, Winnetka Community House, Adult Down Syndrome Center, and the John F. Kennedy Center for Performing Arts in Washington DC.

The Arts of Life aims to support each other as professional artists in creating a thriving arts community based on cooperative decision-making and mutual respect. We are committed to providing high quality, innovative services for adults with developmental disabilities. The studio focuses on its artists’ needs and strives to exceed expectations.

We love our volunteers (and we always need more of them to love)! Our community thrives and depends on the unique skills and capabilities of everyone involved with The Arts of Life. Our volunteers assist artists with projects, teach new art skills, design databases, plan special events, assist in grant applications, and much more.
