Needs Ordinary People

With Extraordinary Hearts

To Provide Supportive Services to Individuals with a Limited Life Expectancy

If you are a man or woman 16 to 100 with a little extra time, we need you!!

Hospice volunteers are compassionate, caring individuals wishing to give a few hours a week to support terminally ill patients and their families. If you have experienced Hospice Care at the end of a loved one’s life, you know how beneficial it is. If not, you will soon learn through training and experience.

Ways to help include making friendly visits to listen, hold a hand, play cards, watch a favorite video, read a book, sing or play music. Running errands, or staying with the patient for a brief time to give a family member a much needed break is also helpful. Some share their creativity by knitting or crocheting lap blankets, or slippers and shawls for patients. Some assist our bereavement team by making supportive calls to grieving loved ones, or help with bereavement mailing. Others help in the office with filing, and mailing, or making end of the week calls to patients at home.

Free training is provided. Following training, volunteers are placed with patients as close to the volunteer’s home as possible.
