Job Description

We are currently seeking an enthusiastic, dedicated volunteer to serve as an At-Large board member on the UVP executive board. Officers serve on a voluntary basis to support and guide our activities in the Iganga District of Uganda, where our public health programs serve rural communities.

Time Commitment

Time commitment is 2-4 hours per week, depending on the week.

Qualifications

- Enthusiasm, dedication to service, willingness to make a commitment for sustained involvement
- We are particularly seeking an applicant with grantwriting skills (or willingness to learn) and/or human resources experience.

Duties

- Assist in decision making for the organization;
- Work on fundraising for the organization, marketing and public relations material/efforts;
- Raise or donate at least $1000 towards UVP’s work in Uganda
- Participate in monthly executive board member meetings;
- Participate in the annual executive board member meeting;
- Assist with creating documents such as grant proposals, budgets, website materials, and educational curricula for the organization. Responsibilities of at-large board members are dictated by the board member's skills and interests.

Since 2003, The Uganda Village Project (UVP) has been working with the people of Iganga to promote public health and sustainable development in the rural communities of this marginalized district in southeast Uganda. Our organization represents a network of partnerships bridging disciplines and sectors working to innovate and support locally specific solutions that draw together multiple stakeholders for results-based programming. As an international nonprofit organization, we work directly with community based organizations (CBOs) and local government to utilize local knowledge and maximize community ownership.
