Clearing the hillside

Help restore this secluded canyon in the heart of Montclair in Oakland. We will pull invasive plants, maintain trails, and enjoy the urban wilderness. No experience necessary. We supply tools, gloves, snacks and water. Wear long sleeves, long pants, and closed toe shoes with decent treads. Meet at 2639 Beaconsfield Place. Walk in on the dirt road. The Friends recognize that citizen participation, from residents to decision-makers, teachers, and students, is critical for building long-term commitment to protecting Sausal Creek as a natural resource for the greater Oakland community.

Description

Friends of Sausal Creek is a volunteer-based, nonprofit, community organization dedicated to promoting awareness, appreciation, and stewardship of Oakland’s Sausal Creek Watershed, which drains to the San Francisco Bay. Formed in 1996, the Friends recognize that citizen participation-from residents to decision-makers, teachers, and students-is critical for building a long-term commitment to protecting Sausal Creek as a natural resource for the greater Oakland community.
