English Language Development- Learning to Succeed (LETOS) The work of the tutors is unique and valuable because it provides tutoring at a time and place most suitable for the adult English learner and tutor. Your commitment can help our participants achieve their language goals. This is our most popular program and the volunteer need is great. You will serve as a one-on-one and small group tutor in a participatory English learning environment.
Classes are provided Tuesday-Thursday 9AM-12PM and 6PM-9PM.
Volunteer orientations/training is required before entering the classroom and takes place the week before classroom placement at our community center on 2801 S Hamlin Ave. We expect from our tutors to: -commit to at least 2 hours a week for at least 3 months - be on time and ready to tutor -be comfortable interacting with groups as well as individuals -be comfortable speaking English only and ready to learn nuances of English Language Development teaching -be creative and engaging, patient and respectful -be conscious of the needs of the Latino community -be a critical thinker
