Club Kids

The Boys & Girls Clubs of Southwest Virginia is run primarily through our location at 1714 9th Street in SE Roanoke, Virginia. Right now we are looking for driven people from the community who would like to give back to younger members of their community by helping our kids in the classroom. We invite all local members of the community with a passion to positively affect the lives of our young men and women to come work with our programs to help our students grow in their professional and academic pursuits.

Tutors with The Boys & Girls Club are volunteers who get the opportunity to spend time building a positive adult relationship with one or more of our club members by helping them with school-related work and fun BGC programs/activities. Our Club provides an outlet for members of the community to invest their time and effort into members of our club so that our children can enjoy brighter futures.

We encourage our Tutors to volunteer at least one day, one hour per week, but this is not a requirement and we are willing to accommodate your work schedule.

Our Club is open during the school year in the afternoon from 2:45pm to 7 pm Monday through Friday. The 9th Street Club follows the Roanoke City Public School Calendar for holidays and closings. All volunteers must complete a Boys & Girls Clubs volunteer application and pass an annual criminal background check. The best time to tutor or volunteer is between 3pm and 5pm, Monday through Thursday. If you are interested in this opportunity or volunteering during a time not listed above, please contact Nick Hoy at nhoy@BGCSWVA.org
