STEM for Her was created in 2003 to identify and fund programs that support the interests of girls and young women from the 6th grade through college to pursue STEM curricula and technology-related careers. Our specific mission is to use education to create awareness and excitement and to prepare girls and young women to launch successful technology-related careers. We are an organization led by volunteers who share the STEM for Her mission . Volunteers are always needed & warmly welcomed! Opportunities include smaller one-time tasks to ongoing programs and events. All in-person volunteer meetings are typically held in the Washington DC Metro area and via conference calls. Join us in our mission to use education to create awareness, excitement, and opportunity among girls and young women to pursue successful technology-related careers.
SPECIFIC IMMEDIATE COMMITTEE NEEDS
STEM for Her is excited to announce the reorganization of our committees to help us reach our goals!
This month we are focusing on filling leadership roles of Chair and Co-Chair for three of our committees. These are positions that take leadership for a specific component of work, and help the board build a committee of volunteers to execute.
- Development - Help expand our fundraising opportunities!
- Marketing & Communications - Increase public awareness for STEM for Her!
- Research & Advocacy - Lead the initiative around developing a research plan & identifying a research partner!
We are hoping you, a colleague or friend are willing to volunteer some of your time and talents to creating awareness, excitement, and opportunities for girls and young women to pursue STEM related-careers in the Washington, DC metro area.
