Wildfires are devastating communities across California, causing more than 300,000 people to evacuate their homes and threatening many more. The Camp Fire in Northern California -- one of three blazing across the state -- is the most destructive in state history. We want to ensure that, if you are in an affected community, you find access to shelter. And if you are looking to help with disaster relief efforts, you know the most effective ways to contribute.
We train new hospice volunteers at various locations throughout the Metroplex on an ongoing basis. And we have a class scheduled in November in East FW/Lake Arlington! Have you missed a recent class or the class was not in your area? Not a problem!! We set meetings for one on one orientation sessions throughout every week. VITAS volunteers provide home patients with relief (stay for a couple of hours with a patient while the caregiver takes a break), friendly visiting and companionship to home patients and nursing home residents, assist with running errands for the patient/family, telephone assurance to patients, their caregivers or to bereaved survivors and hospital visitation at our Inpatient Unit. Volunteers are assigned based on their location preference, so we can keep you in your neighborhood or community if needed. We need specialty volunteer such as office/admin, licensed cosmetologists for Hair Care volunteer visits, and Veterans to visit Veterans.
