1) Set Building and prop design
Volunteers with construction skills are especially valuable for us, but anybody willing to help is very welcome.
Set building takes place every Sunday until the event, from 10am-6pm (you can stay for however long you like) at our barn on the corner of South Water Road and Copper Springs in Elgin.
To help out please contact our design manager Fred on 847-931-6127 or just head to the barn on Sunday.
2) Flash Mobs
As part of our event marketing we have a series of zombie flash mobs planned in local locations. Zombies must be willing to dress up and attend rehearsals to learn the steps to Thriller. Flash mobs are planned for several dates through September and early October as well as for the festival itself on 10/24/2020.
To be part of the mob please contact our theater coordinator Judi booksatsunset@gmail.com.
3) Poster Distribution
We are looking for volunteers to put up posters throughout Elgin businesses and beyond. Volunteers will be representing the City of Elgin, and must be comfortable asking shop owners to display posters. If you are able to help please contact Fred on 847-931-6127 or email wimms_f@cityofelgin.org
4) Event Set up and Clean up
We need a small army of volunteers to help us create the apocalypse (and then clean up after it!). This task does involve some manual lifting and carrying, but most items are bigger than they are heavy and can easily be managed by a couple of people. Volunteers will be needed on 10/21/12 and 10/25/12. If you are able to help please contact Freddrick on 847-931-6127 or email wimms_F@cityofelgin.org
The City is also looking for volunteers who are interested in setting up what is effectively a movie set on Chicago Street the weekend of the show. We’ll be starting as early as Wednesday October 21st and work various shifts through the night on Saturday, post event Saturday night, with some additional clean-up on Sunday, the 25 th. We’re looking for strong hands, smart hands, and busy hands - we have set-up work available for volunteers of all shapes and sizes. Everyone helping out will be required to sign a liability waiver prior to lending their efforts.
Interested in Volunteering and being part of Elgin’s signature event (and getting a highly coveted Z.D.I. staff t-shirt)? Contact Freddrick Wimms at ( wimms_f@cityofelgin.org) or call 847-931-6127 for further information and follow the event on both on Facebook and its website ( www.nightmareonchicagostreet.com)for daily updates on the countdown to the number one Halloween event in central Illinois.
