Be part of the behind-the-scenes work done by Boulder County Distric Attorney's staff! As a valued volunteer, you will:
Explain and process legal advisements and agreements between the District Attorney's office and adults charged with misdemeanor (typically traffic) offenses. Interaction with defendants and attorneys necessitates professionalism, compassion, accuracy, speed, and excellent customer service.
Hours: 8am-11:30am Mondays, Tuesdays and Thursdays. One volunteer is sought for all of these times. The volunteer chosen would complete all of these shifts per week for a minimum of 1 year. (End time at court may be earlier each day depending on the case load).
Dynamic shadowing and training will be offered. Please only apply if you can honor the minimum commitment of one year (vacations excepted).
Requirements:
Must be available Mondays Tuesdays, and Thursdays promptly at 8am in Boulder at the Justice Center.
Must be 21 or older, mature, a quick learner, comfortable accurately and quickly writing up paperwork to process casework, and be able to deal courteously with the public. Work independently with some staff supervision once trained. Reliability, punctuality, ability to work with a diverse population, excellent non-judmental customer service skills, critical thinking, ability to work on your own with minimal supervision after training.
You would be a valued and crucial asset to a very busy office ensuring the best of public service to the the courts and those charged with misdemeanors in Boulder County.
Background check and fingerprinting required.
Spanish language skills desirable but not necessary.

Description
We recruit and place volunteers and interns in a variety of volunteer positions for Community Justice Services and the District Attorney's (20th Judicial) office in Boulder County . Volunteers play a vital role in enhancing services to crime victims and juvenile and adult offenders. Our volunteer partners are essential in helping us maintain an open and responsive criminal justice system.
What Do Volunteers Do?
Provide support and information to crime victims and witnesses
Be a mentor to high-risk youth who need extra attention
Help people with consumer fraud complaints
Assist with research/data entry on incarceration rates and program outcomes
Teach ESL, HSE and life skills classes to incarcerated community members
