Are you enthusiastic about ocean awareness and conservation issues? Do you want to learn more about the inner workings of an independent film festival while serving your community? The San Francisco International Ocean Film Festival is seeking a Filmmaker Liaison.

Job Description:

The Filmmaker Liaison plays a key role in the overall film solicitation, screening and projection of the film program of the SFIOFF. As a key team member, the Filmmaker Liaison works closely with the Programming Coordinator, the Screening Committee and the Executive Director, to ensure that the ovreall experience for the filmmaker with the festival is special, unique, fun and rewarding. This position serves as the secondary point of contact with all of the filmmakers, supporting the Programming Coordinator, and is a great opportunity to learn more about film festival and overall film selections.


  • Research and solicitation of films prior to the festival
  • Assist in maintaining the 2017 film submission database
  • Coordinate bi-weekly Screening Committee meetings starting Sept. 6th
  • Work with filmmakers to obtain the screener version of their films as well as all press kit information
  • Correspond with attending filmmakers with regards to their hospitality and travel plans
  • Be the primary contact for attending filmmakers during the festival to ensure they are having an excellent experience
  • Assist with organizing program content
  • Update online database of films and filmmaker information from past years’ festivals on an ongoing basis

Experience Required:

  • MS Office - Word, Excel, proficiency with GoogleDocs
  • Good organizational skills
  • Friendly, outgoing personality
  • Quick thinker, problem solver, great attention to detail
  • Group coordinator skills
  • Event planning experience helpful
  • Passionate about working to raise awareness about the ocean

We are requesting a long-term commitment (July 1, 2016 - March 30, 2017) consisting of 6­-10 hours per week in the beginning, leading to more hours as we get closer to to the flm festival in March 2017. This position is based in our Presidio office, but working from home is possible. This would be perfect for an undergraduate or graduate student with an interest in filmmaking, independent film festivals and/or event coordination. An interest in ocean conservation is a must.
