OHAAT’s Beds for Kids program supplies children with beds and warm bedding so that they can wake up healthy and ready to learn.
OHAAT is always looking for volunteers weekday mornings between 9 am and 1.30pm who can help deliver beds to the homes of children in need. We are in need of lifters to help deliver the beds for which no experience is required. We are also in need of people who are experienced in driving a box truck to drive our 16' box truck for the delivery events. For information about being a volunteer, visit us at www.ohaat.org.

Mission Statement
To help families establish (or reestablish) a self-sufficient life by providing them with the necessities of a functional home environment.
Description
Since 2000, One House at a Time (OHAAT) has run a program called Beds for Kids, which provides disadvantaged children with a basic, but overlooked, need. Countless organizations help families find housing, but assistance often ends there. Few organizations help families turn their housing into functional homes, and as a result, children are forced to sleep on the floor, on sofas, or, if they’re lucky, crowded onto beds with several of their family members. For our Beds for Kids program, we provide children with proper bedding and the opportunity to get a good night of sleep.
Every child in the program receives a bed and bed kit (sheets, blankets, and depending on inventory, a pillow, pillow protector and mattress pad), which is specific to his or her age and gender. OHAAT purchases the beds from various manufacturers, and the bed kit items are donated, sorted, and packaged by individuals and partner organizations--churches, social groups, and businesses. Both the beds and bed kits are delivered directly to the homes of children in need, thanks to OHAAT’s 15-foot box truck and 75+ volunteers.
