Canine Assisted Therapy, Inc., is a 501(c)(3) non-profit organization founded in August 2009 to provide canine companionship for those in hospitals, nursing homes, assisted living facilities, schools, and hospice. With more than 100 therapy teams, CAT's dedicated and passionate volunteers now serve 300,000 individuals per year in a wide variety of facilities and population-specific programs. Since the beginning, CAT has set new standards in the field of animal assisted therapy and continues to challenge the status quo.
We have several programs at CAT that serve different areas and people in the community, including children, veterans, seniors and people with disabilities. To provide these types of services, our CAT dogs must meet a very high standard for personality, temperament, and working as a team with their handlers.
If you are a dog owner and you think your dog can bring joy to others please contact us today.
For more information about our volunteer requirements visit our website at http://www.catdogs.org/training-certifications/basic-certification/.
Note: CAT does not have dogs to provide to volunteers.
