Buffalo Creek Literacy Project

We are in need of adult volunteers, who we will train, to use our materials/software to tutor either adults or children who are struggling to read. Tutoring is free to our students and is usually delivered on a one-to-one basis. It requires a commitment of about 2 hours a week.

Mission Statement

The Buffalo Creek Literacy Project is a volunteer-run and operated independent 501(c)(3) non-profit organization that provides literacy education for adults and children in Stokes and Eastern Surry Counties in order to eradicate illiteracy.

Description

Trained, volunteer tutors offer free instruction in reading, writing, and comprehension to adult and child learners who are struggling to read. Tutors receive free training and, after completion, are paired with a student to work on a one-on-one basis using the Buffalo Creek Literacy Program materials.
