Peace Neighborhood Center is a non-profit organization whose mission is to provide programs for children, families, and individuals who are affected by social and economic problems. We are currently recruiting volunteer tutors to help within afterschool programs. Volunteers assist with homework & help build academic skills. Our MINIMUM commitment for tutoring is once a week during the FALL (September-December), WINTER (January-April), and/or SPRING (April-May) terms. Volunteers must be in 9th grade or older.
TUTORING OPPORTUNITIES:
● ELEMENTARY Tutoring: Tuesdays and/or Thursdays 5:45pm - 6:45pm
○ @ Peace Neighborhood (1111 N Maple Road)
● ELEMENTARY Tutoring: Mondays and/or Wednesdays 4:45pm - 5:45pm
○ @ our Satellite Centers:
Maple Meadows (880 S Maple Road) and/or West Arbor (717 N Maple Road)
● MIDDLE SCHOOL Tutoring: Mondays and/or Wednesdays 5:30pm - 6:45pm
○ @ Peace Neighborhood (1111 N Maple Road)
● HIGH SCHOOL Tutoring: Tuesdays and/or Thursdays 5:30pm - 6:45pm
○ @ Peace Neighborhood (1111 N Maple Road)
TO BEGIN TUTORING:
1. Complete our online Volunteer Application https://apricot.socialsolutions.com/auth/autologin/org_id/2092/hash/9347f307cf3506c875de02b5895de23c7bbab42d
2. Attend one orientation at Peace Neighborhood Center (1111 North Maple Road).
○ Please bring a government issued picture ID
○ We complete DHS background checks on all volunteers 18 years and older.
Orientation Dates:
➢ Tuesday, September 12th @ 6pm
➢ Wednesday, September 13th @ 6pm
➢ Thursday, September 21st @ 6pm

Description
Peace Neighborhood Center is a nonprofit 501(c)3 corporation started in 1971 out of the concerns and hopes of the residents of Ann Arbor's West Side. Initially, Peace was a neutral meeting place for neighbors from diverse backgrounds to resolve their mutual concerns. Over time, the mission of Peace Neighborhood Center has expanded to in order to meet the challenges of integrating communities, combating drugs and violence, and addressing educational and economic equalities.
