Fostering at Labrador Retriever Rescue of Fresno is our greatest need.
Fostering is one of the most important volunteer opportunities available with Labrador Retriever Rescue of Fresno (LRRF). We rely on our foster families to care for our labs while waiting to be adopted by their permanent families. Without YOU we can't take in dogs needing homes, and currently we are having to turn away dogs in need away due to lack of fosters.
The Foster Home is the dog’s first step out of homelessness and towards their new forever family. Fostering a dog is extremely rewarding; words cannot describe the feeling of watching a your foster dog thrive and become the beautiful companion that can be placed with a new family. The foster family also provides valuable insight into the dog’s personality so that a good match can be made with a potential adopter.
LRRF covers all of the dogs’ veterinary needs, medications and food. Occasionally you may be asked to take a dog to a vet visit or in for spay/neuter. We only work with specific veterinarians and all visits are pre-arranged. We also do our best to provide training and mentoring to you as a foster home. We are very proud of the volunteer team we have assembled. We all work together to provide each other encouragement, advice, and support.

Mission Statement
Labrador Retriever Rescue of Fresno (LRRF) is a no kill non-profit 501(c)3, that is 100% in-home foster based. We rescue abandoned, homeless and neglected Labradors from all over central California and beyond. We wish to end suffering and promote the welfare of labs and lab mixes through direct action and education. We provide each dog with a stable environment, love, companionship, food and veterinary care until a qualified, loving forever home is found. Labrador Retriever Rescue of Fresno believes that all companion animals should be treated with dignity, compassion and kindness.
Description
Labrador Retriever Rescue of Fresno has been rescuing and finding qualified homes for Labrador Retrievers since 2008. We obtained our 501(c)(3) non-profit status in 2010. The primary source of our Labs is from City and County Shelters. We are an all volunteer organization covering Fresno, Kings, Tulare and Madera counties.
An enormous number of Labradors are being found at our local SPCA and surrounding area rural shelters. Labradors have also been surrendered or abandoned largely due irresponsible backyard breeding abandonments. We give every dog a veterinary exam, vaccinations, test for parasites, heartworm, microchip, and spay/neuter. We fix broken bones and provide care for the neglected and abandoned dog. We take in pregnant, senior, and special needs Labs and provide for foster care until we can place them in forever homes. As a direct result of the number of dogs coming into rescue, our resources are severely strained. We urgently need foster homes to continue our work.
