The Ronald McDonald House Charities(r) of the Rio Grande Valley provide a home-away-from-home for the families of hospitalized children receiving medical treatment at the Edinburg Children's Hospital. Our mission is to to relieve the stress families must endure while their child is ill. We offer families a warm, caring environment where they can share their concerns with other families.
We have a laundry facility, 3 bedrooms, a kitchen, dining and living area and a shower as well. All of which is provided free of charge.
Volunteers at the Family Room sign up new visitors, sign-in registered patrons, and explain the rules of the Family Room while maintaining a relaxing home-like environment. More than anything we need someone to be there at all times to ensure the Family Room is open so parents and patrons always have these amenities available to them.
We have available shifts that last four hours and we are open from 8 a.m. to 8 p.m., 7 days a week.

- Background Check
- Must be at least 18
- Orientation or Training
- Must be 18 yrs or older and dedicated to volunteering at least twice a month for 1 year or a cumulative of 100 hours.
- TB test (provided to you free of charge), immunization records, flu test during the season and pass background check.
