Fox Valley Special Recreation Association (FVSRA) is partnering with the iCan Shine organization to remove barriers and training wheels by conducting a full week bicycle camp.
This program is designed to assist children with disabilities that have been challenged with learning how to ride a bike gain confidence and skills to successfully ride a bike on two wheels through participation in an intensive five day camp experience.
If you have ever wanted to truly see the impact that volunteer efforts can have this is an event for you!
Volunteers will assist individuals throughout the camp by ensuring safety, providing a motivating atmosphere and being enthusiastic. Volunteers need to be able to walk briskly and jog next to your biker. We will have additional volunteers to rotate jogging laps, but volunteers should expect to work up a sweat.
The program is a one week long camp with up to five sessions.
Volunteers are asked to help with one (or more) of the sessions the entire week. We are flexible based on your availability. If you are able to commit to even just one day we are willing to work with your schedule!
A mandatory orientation will be provided on Sunday, June 10 from 4:00-5:30pm. Important information will be covered at the orientation such as a review of responsibilities and adaptive equipment used.
Session Times:
8:30am-9:45 am
10:00am-11:20am
11:40am-12:55pm
2:00pm-3:15pm
3:30pm-4:50pm
Volunteers should plan on arriving 15-30 minutes before their assigned session start time.
