ORGANIZATION: Santa Fe Animal Shelter

Help Shelter pets make matches with their new family.

Assist Annie managing animals at various adoption events at off-site locations. Duties include filling water bowls, giving treats, spot cleaning, speaking to the public about different animals, walking dogs*, and helping with set-up and break down.

This opportunity is located throughout Santa Fe and surrounding cities at various venues and times. Our mobile adoptions unit accounts for 35% of our pet adoptions! Having volunteers scheduled consistently for these events is essential for helping make adoption matches.

*Canine Social Walker training is required. The Volunteer Coordinator will provide the necessary training.

Since 1939, the Santa Fe Animal Shelter has been dedicated to its mission: support animals, save lives, spread compassion.


We are northern New Mexico’s largest open-admission, no-kill shelter. Our Live Release Rate is currently at 94.2 percent.

As a private, not-for-profit 501(c)(3) organization, we receive nearly all of our funding from private donors in our community and beyond. Santa Fe Animal Shelter focuses on spay/neuter programs to control overpopulation, creative adoption efforts to bring pets to loving families and dozens of programs providing support for marginalized animals.
