VITA (Volunteer Income Tax Assistance) Services for West Michigan is looking for volunteers interested in helping low- to moderate-income individuals become more financially stable by providing free tax preparation services. No prior tax experience is necessary - just the willingness to learn and some computer savvy. IRS training and certification is required. Free training - online and/or classroom - available at locations and times to accommodate any schedule. Flexible volunteer hours also available at over 9 sites in various West Michigan locations.
In 2015, VITA Services for West Michigan helped 2,700 clients and assisted created a community impact of greater than $3 million. VITA volunteers help hardworking families claim all of the credits they are entitled to. Available positions include: tax preparer, greeter, site coordinator and translator.
