Mission Statement

Our mission is to improve the well-being of those in our care through compassionate, personalized health services in our home and yours.

Description

In Hawaii, aloha is in everything we do. Respect for and care of kupuna or elders is a primary value among all the cultures that make up the rich fabric of Hawaii. So it is not surprising that one of Hawaii's oldest skilled nursing care centers called itself Hale Makua, Home of Respected Elders, when it opened its doors in 1946. Cncerned citizens on Maui founded Hale Makua Health Services as a non-profit corporation to provide care for elders who had no family, and no means to pay for care. Those who created Hale Makua knew of the importance of environment in caring for our elders, and built Hale Makua, Wailuku in a lush garden setting.

Hale Makua Health Services has expanded to include two locations, 342 beds surrounding beautifully-maintained courtyards where residents can enjoy continental breakfasts, card games, and conversation. Hale Makua has two vibrant communities on the island of Maui staffed by skilled and caring professionals.

As Hale Makua Health Services' programs and services have broadened and grown, in addition to two nursing homes, the organization provides skilled nursing and therapies in homes throuhg Home Health by Hale Makua; in-patient and out-patient physical, occupational and speech therapy through Rehab by Hale Makua; day care services for adults through Adult Day Health by Hale Makua; and an adult residential care home for adults who need minimal to moderate assitance through Care HOmes by Hale Makua.
