Become a Supplemental Nutrition Assistance Program (SNAP) food assistance specialist to assist people in filling out applications for this program of the Kansas Department of Children and Families which is administered locally through Community Access Center of Independence. The food assistance specialist will provide information on the SNAP Program to possible participants as well as helping with the application process.
SNAP’s mission is to assist individuals of any age, including young families through senior adults, who may be eligible for nutrition assistance.
The volunteer specialist will work through Community Access Center as well as provide outreach to other sites to ensure that anyone who is eligible for public nutrition and health benefits is aware of the opportunity to apply for these benefits. Volunteer specialists 55 and older may volunteer in partnership with RSVP and would then be eligible for benefits provided through RSVP Four County.
