The Women's Center of Los Angeles invites you to make a profound difference in a girl's life just by donating 3 hours a month. Adult mentors work with the students to provide information, encouragement, and empowerment to enable the young women to make choices that will lead them toward higher education. The high school students learn to choose competitive academic schedules, complete a college application, develop a personal statement, and apply for financial aid and scholarships. Mentors meet with girls monthly for one to two hours and check in weekly by phone or email. Volunteers go through a 3-hour training to learn a simple curriculum. Each mentor is matched with a high-school girl and provides information and encouragement to empower the girl to make choices that will lead her toward higher education. Requires at least 1 year commitment. To apply, you must send your resume and a completed application to: g2g.WCLA@gmail.com. The application can be found at womenscenterla.org. All responses sent via VolunteerMatch must include an email address and telephone number.
