We are looking for groups of people who wish to mentor once a month for an hour in an elementary school that has a high concentration of students in poverty. Each group "adopts" a classroom visiting that classroom monthly as well as pen paling with their students in between visits. Groups can come from a company, a church, a government group, a non profit or even a group of friends. Groups of 5-20 volunteers commit to volunteering 1 hour per month, for the school year.
Currently we have over 270 groups each adopting one classroom at 31 schools.

About Adopt A Class Foundation
Location:
2153 W 8TH ST, Suite 200, CINCINNATI, OH 45204, US
Mission Statement
Our Mission is to facilitate personal, sustained connections between members of the business community and the students in pre-kindergarten through 8th grades through group mentoring with the purpose of providing positive role models and developing practical and social skills for the students and building the culture of philanthropy and teamwork for the business.
Description
Adopt A Class ("AAC") is dedicated to pairing classrooms in urban schools with members of the business community. AAC currently has over 300 business and community groups paired with classrooms in 25 Greater Cincinnati Schools. Each school year, the program provides over 6,800 students with positive role models who teach appropriate social skills and relationship building. Because AAC serves schools with the highest concentrations of poverty, many of these students find themselves without role models or a support system. Through its network of business partners, AAC strives to help these students see the potential in their future. AAC achieves this goal by providing a support network for schools as well as for individual students.
The primary purpose of the program is to provide students with supportive adults who will help students experience increased school engagement. A secondary purpose of the program is to build a culture of philanthropy for the participating businesses.
Adopters spend time with students during classroom visits and special events including trips to the respective company’s workplace and career fairs. There is also a letter-writing component of the program so that Adopters and students maintain structured contact between activities.
