Laughter can be one of the greatest gifts of all. To be a hospice volunteer, sharing a laugh and a hug can mean so much. Simple acts like jotting down memories, sharing a meal, reading stories or listening to music can bring such joy into a patient's life.

Because Good Shepherd Hospice is a small hospice, every patient is very dear to us. Sometimes our hospice team provides the only love and support our patients have. If you become a Good Shepherd Hospice volunteer, you become part of a family. We meet our patients where they are, whether it be in the first months or last days. We go to their homes, wherever that may be -- whether it's the house they've lived in for decades or the assisted living or long-term nursing care facility they recently moved to.

When you volunteer with us you will have the flexibility to arrange your own schedule, to develop your own special relationship with our patients and/or their families and to become part of a team of dedicated staff who have only the best interests of our patients in mind.

Qualifications for GSH Hospice Volunteer: Dedication, Compassion, Flexibility and Joy of Life.

Check out our website at: www.goodshepherdhospice.com and fill out a volunteer application or call Adeng DeWarabeck fir details.

Mission Statement

Serving People With Compassion and Dignity

Description

COMPASSIONATE ABOUT CARE. passionate about life.

At Good Shepherd Hospice, we believe that health care is more than just a diagnosis and a treatment. It's a daily exercise in making this moment...this today...the very best it can be. We're here to help our patients achieve that goal - physically, mentally, spiritually...and for whatever that means individually.

We believe that in the passing of a person’s life, there are also extraordinary opportunities for compassion, reconciliation, spiritual healing, and renewal.

Our Volunteers play a vital role in our Hospice program. From working in the office, to creating special projects at home, to visiting to provide companionship and ease lonliness, Good Shepherd Hospice Volunteers make special moments happen again and again for the patients and families we serve.

Our History - 22 Years of Comforting and Serving

Good Shepherd Hospice opened its first office in Oklahoma City in 1995. We now have a regional presence serving Oklahoma, Kansas, Missouri and Texas. Along the way, we’ve touched the lives of more than 20,000 patients and shepherded 50, 000+ family members through their time of need. Every member of our team receives comprehensive, ongoing training. We are a member of the National Hospice and Palliative Care Association, Medicare Certified and State Licensed.
