Help Rural Seniors Stay in Their Homes Longer

Many seniors have spent a lifetime in the same community. When they're no longer able to drive they often are forced to move elsewhere. Help rural seniors stay in their homes longer by volunteering as a minibus driver and bringing your elder neighbors to grocery stores, pharmacies, shopping, and social services.

Volunteers drive a 12-person minibus (no CDL required!) to residents' homes in Wakefield, Brookfield, New Durham, Middleton, Milton, and Farmington and bring them to destinations in Rochester. Riders are picked up in the morning for shopping and returned back to their homes in the late morning or early afternoon. We ask that you volunteer at least one day a month but are more than welcome to drive more.

It is a very gratifying experience knowing that you are helping people get out of their homes even if just for a few hours. Many new friendships begin on the bus.

The Cooperative Alliance for Seacoast Transportation (COAST) has proudly served the Seacoast region of New Hampshire (Rockingham and Strafford Counties) and Berwick, Maine, with affordable, safe transportation since 1982. In that time, COAST buses have carried over 11.5 million passengers.

In addition to providing fixed route bus service, COAST also operates the North Bus, a volunteer-driven minibus operating in the rural communities north of Rochester.

COAST is a member of the Alliance for Community Transportation.
