You could help a puppy become an Assistance dog for someone with mobility challenges, post traumatic stress disorder, or who is hard of hearing. Welcome a Labrador or Golden Retriever into your home while they are growing mature enough to enter advanced training to become and Assistance Dog. You just need room for a kennel, and love to lavish on a puppy. This is great for families with children, graduate students, or retirees.
There is additional screening for this volunteer position and a waiting list. Volunteers are required to bring the puppy to training classes.
The demand for assistance dogs is great and the waiting time is long. Help us to be able to serve each applicant that is waiting for their special canine team mate. Please contact Stephanie McCreary, Volunteer Coordinator 314-997-2325 to learn how you can help
