Platinum Minds

Platinum Minds is seeking a volunteer with experience in grant writing (foundation and federal grants) to raise funds for its programs in the New Jersey area. The ideal candidate is someone with experience in grant writing who is retired and wants to volunteer a few hours a month by writing grants. We are looking for an individual with a background in writing and or research. Experience in grant writing is preferred. There are too many talented students in low performing schools, and with better fund-raising capability Platinum Minds can help more boys, aiding them with gaining their purpose, confidence and self-esteem, so they achieve at their highest potential.

Platinum Minds is a Non-Profit leadership development organization with the mission to assist academically motivated young men between the ages of 11-17 from environmentally challenged neighborhoods. Platinum Minds supports the young men in the program to stay on a high academic track, development leadership, skills, graduate high school and continue their education beyond secondary school.

Since 2007, the Platinum Minds programs have positively impacted hundreds of children from cities in New Jersey, such as: Asbury Park, Morristown, Newark, Plainfield and East Orange. Platinum Minds offers its scholars education enrichment, SAT/ACT prep, monthly workshops, mentoring, summer camp experiences and secondary school placement. Platinum Minds also provides reading literacy to its "Rising Stars", boys in K-12th grades.

Platinum Minds is a nonprofit 501(3)c founded in 2006 by Yvette Long. The organization was founded on the beliefs of human generosity, community service and the desire of the more fortunate to help those who are less able to advocate for themselves. In addition to placing students in better performing schools, our student enrichment programs focuses on aiding students in developing their role as community leaders.
