Latinitas Magazine is currently accepting applications for writing & multimedia interns. Latinitas is the first digital magazine by and for U.S. Latina youth. The award-winning digital magazine is published monthly on-line with articles about culture, entertainment, profiles and youth issues. From quinces to dating, advice to fashion, college to entertainment, and wellness to culture, Latinas focuses on topics related to being a Latina teen today. This is a great way to earn volunteer hours, build your resume and add to your job and college applications. High school and college young women interested in developing their writing and multimedia skills and getting published in LatinitasMagazine.com are invited to apply by submitting their resume to editor@latinitasmagazine.org.
The internships are unpaid, but many interns arrange to receive academic and/or service learning credits for their work through their school. We are very willing to coordinate with such programs. Interns must be willing to commit for a minimum of 10 hours a week. After the semester is complete the intern and Latinitas may discuss the possibility of extending the internship depending on needs and interest of both the intern and the organization. Mission Statement
Latinitas is a nonprofit organization dedicated to empowering Latina youth through media and technology. We host media enrichment programs where girls build confidence and discover their voice through writing, photography, filmmaking and art. Our members publish LatinitasMagazine.org, the first digital magazine by, for and about Latina youth.
Description
To encourage girls to build confidence and express themselves, we offer an innovative series of workshops, mentor projects, after-school clubs, and camps aimed at promoting media awareness and participation among Hispanic girls. Throughout these programs we offer fun and engaging lessons on media awareness, Latino culture, writing, editing, journalism, art, desktop publishing, film, radio, web design, and photography. Girls in our program build confidence and learn creative ways to express themselves. Our members an empowering online bilingual magazine by and for young women (www.LatinitasMagazine.org) focused on informing, entertaining, and inspiring young Latinas to grow into healthy, confident, and successful Latinas.
