About Admiral Hospice Care

Location:

4010 Watson Plaza Drive, #120, Lakewood, CA 90712, US

Mission Statement

Admiral Hospice Care, Inc. provides an individualized program of physical, emotional, spiritual, and practical care for people in the last phases of a life-limiting illness, with an emphasis on control of pain and other symptoms. The program is reflective of a spirit and idea of caring that emphasizes comfort and dignity for the dying, making it possible for them to remain independent for as long as possible, in familiar surroundings. Hospice care is centered on both the patient and family/caregiver. Hospice personnel respect and respond to the unique differences in family/caregiver, lifestyle, values, and wishes.

Utilizing an interdisciplinary group approach of physicians, nurses, social workers, therapists, homemakers, hospice aides, volunteers, spiritual counselors, bereavement counselors, and others, Admiral Hospice Care, Inc. provides palliative care in the home, short-term inpatient services, mobilization and coordination of ancillary services, and bereavement support. Services will be equitably distributed to a medically and financially diversified group of patients in a cost-effective manner which ensures adherence to the goals of Admiral Hospice Care, Inc. and the maintenance of the financial solvency of the organization.

Hospice affirms life.

Hospice exists to provide support and care for persons in the last phases of a life-limiting illness so that they may live as fully and comfortably as possible.

Hospice exists in the belief that through appropriate care and the promotion of a caring community, patients and family/caregivers will be free to attain a degree of mental preparation for death that is satisfying to them.

Description

For only a few hours a month, you can make a difference in the lives of terminally ill patients and their families. Admiral Hospice Care has many volunteer opportunities available and we are always looking for committed individuals to join our team. Volunteering is a deeply rewarding experience that is greatly appreciated by our patients and families.

Volunteers provide non medical services such as:

  • Companionship for the patient;
  • Emotional support for patients and families;
  • Administrative and clerical duties, such as patient phone calls and follow-up;
  • One-of-a-Kind-Art (cards, paintings and drawings created specifically for individual patients)

Teen Volunteer Program
Teen volunteers have provided a uniquely fulfilling experience for our patients, their families and the teens themselves. Their dedication and enthusiasm for the lives of patients, and the comfort they bring to those they touch, have become an important aspect of Hospice Care. Our teens provide some of the following services:

  • Companionship in skilled-nursing facilities and assisted living communities (with someone 18 or over who has been cleared via background check);
  • Life review (including scrap booking and Youtube movie-making);
  • Entertainment (including musical performances);
  • One-of-a-Kind-Art

Volunteer Training
Most volunteers receive comprehensive hospice training in order to feel confident in their ability to help in any role. Admiral Hospice Care offers a fun and interactive training session at the Lakewood Home Office for prospective volunteers. To learn more, please call Gerri Gonzales, Hospice Volunteer Coordinator at 562-429-1500, or email: ggonzalesAHC@gmail.com.

However you choose to volunteer, the outcome is the same: patients' lives will be fuller with your love and support.
