Oakland and Macomb counties: Paws for Life is looking for volunteers to host can drive fundraisers throughout the spring and summer months. A host simply designates an area surrounding their home where residents would most likely be willing to donate their returnable cans and bottles. Volunteers then distribute slips to each residence, asking them to leave returnable cans and bottles on their porches on a specific date. Volunteers then collect those cans and bottles on that date, deliver them to the host address where other volunteers are sorting and returning them to the nearby stores. It's a great way to help animals, include the entire family and get a little bit of exercise and fresh air.

Paws for Life's mission is to speak for those who cannot speak for themselves; to rescue and rehome abandoned pets, matching animals and families to find the right fit for everyone and promising to exhaust all efforts to place adoptable pets in lifelong, loving homes; to promote humane education, spay/neuter initiatives and respect for all living things; to prevent and report cruelty to animals; to participate in disaster animal response; to improve the lives of animals and end the suffering created by puppy mills, animal fighters and backyard breeders; and to be a driving force, leader and champion for animal welfare in Michigan.

Description

Paws for Life Rescue and Adoption (PFL) is a 501(c)3, tax-exempt, not-for-profit animal welfare organization run by a group of hard-working, dedicated volunteers. PFL is an Adoption Guarantee organization that rescues homeless, neglected, abused and abandoned dogs, cats, puppies and kittens from overflowing shelters. PFL does not believe that time or money are acceptable reasons to end a life. PFL uses a network of loving foster care homes where animals stay until their forever homes are found. PFL's goal is to find the best homes possible for the homeless pets in our care. PFL operates under the philosophy of do no harm.

The organization focuses on humane legislation and education initiatives to permanently improve the lives, safety and future of companion animals in Michigan and surrounding areas. PFL has no paid staff and receives no government support. Every penny donated goes directly to the animals in our care, paying vet bills and purchasing needed supplies.

In addition to rescue, PFL devotes resources to numerous local and national humane campaigns, such as End Dogfighting, Community Cat TNR and Eliminating Puppy Mills, as well as participation in community and national Disaster Animal Response Teams.
