The Literacy Council has an opening with our Front Office Team for Wednesday coverage from 9:00 or 9:30 - 12:30.
This position involves general office coverage: phone, emails, some computer work,occaisional help with book inventory or placing orders. Other small tasks as required. Must be able to maintain confidentiality. Training is provided.
The Literacy Council has been service Carroll County for over 30 years. We have some volunteers that have been here for 20 years or more.
The Literacy Council provides free, confidential, one-on-one tutoring for adults in English, math, basic computer operation, and ESOL.
Any patient adult, over or under 50, is encouraged to get in touch for more information.

Mission Statement
The Literacy Council's mission is to provide adult learners with one-on-one, free, confidential tutoring to develop or improve skills in speaking, reading, writing, math, English as a second language, and basic computer knowledge.
Description
The Literacy Council accepts referrals for students who need help with basic reading, writing, and mathematic skills. Students' needs and goals are individually assessed, and they are matched with volunteer tutors. Tutors are trained in the Laubach Literacy system. They meet with students in community locations for 1-2 hours per week to provide one-on-one tutoring.
