Kenya walking safari project brings you up close and personal with wildlife.

About

Next Team is June 18 to July 1, 2017. Volunteers assist Life Net Nature conservation biologists, Dr. Dusti Becker and Dr. Tony Povilitis, and local Maasai to conserve wildlife next to the world famous Masai Mara Reserve in southern Kenya. This is a cost-share donation program. Volunteers donate $2000 to cover their costs (food, transport in Kenya during project, lodging, local guides, park fees, safari fees) and to contribute to the operation of the project. Volunteers help collect behavioral and population data on giraffe, and assist with surveys of elephants, eland, zebra, wildebeest, impala, and other wildlife. Volunteers participate on walking safaris, record birds and mammals along the routes, learn about Maasai culture and give feedback to young Maasai guides in training. From the escarpment, volunteers record activities of predators such as lion and cheetah, and document movements of wildlife between Maasai lands and the national reserve. Volunteers enjoy a wildlife safari in the Masai Mara National Reserve on the way to and from the project site. Contact Dr. Dusti Becker to join the team - dustizuni@yahoo.com.

The volunteer expedition begins and ends in Nairobi, Kenya. The team meets at Wildebeest Camp on June 18, 2017. Airfare and costs in Nairobi are not included in the cost-share donation. The donation is tax deductible. Adults may bring one child age 8-16 for a lower donation of $1250.
