Mission Statement
To rescue, rehabilitate and rehome discarded breeding dogs and to educate the general public about the cruel realities of the commercial dog breeding industry.
Description
National Mill Dog Rescue is a 501(c)(3) non-profit organization incorporated in the state of Colorado.
We have been in existence since February of 2007 when Theresa Strader rescued our founder, Lily, from Reedgate Kennels in Missouri. When Theresa got to the auction, Lily was sitting up in the back of her cage in the dark barn that she lived in. Lily was sitting on her back legs and rubbing her stomach with her front paws, looked Theresa square in the eyes and asked her for help.
Theresa knew that she couldn't leave the auction without Lily. Lily was worn out, with a rotted jaw and mammary tumors along her entire left side.
On that day National Mill Dog Rescue began. We have pledged to put an end to the cruelty and evil of the commercial breeding industry, also more commonly known as puppy mills. We do this by educating the public about puppy mills and letting them know that buying dogs in a pet store is wrong.
